FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What experience do you have in video and film editing?
I have had a lifelong passion for editing, which started when I was about 10 years old playing around with my dad's Sony camcorder and blue Apple iMac G3. Over the many years since then, I have been steadily building my skillset, honing my craft, and developing my portfolio. I have a BA in Video Production and also minored in Film Studies, which both helped to form a great foundation, but most of my experience is hands-on.

What types of projects do you specialize in?
Today, I've chosen to specialize in editing cinematic, documentary-style videos in the corporate world that focus on real and impactful human stories. Click here to watch an award-winning employee storytelling series I'm currently editing in partnership with Caterpillar, Inc.

What software and tools do you use to edit videos?
I primarily work with Adobe's suite of creative tools - Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, illustrator, etc. However, I also have licenses for other popular software tools like DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro. Recently, I have also been exploring and leveraging AI tools to help in some aspects of the editing process like generating cinematic b-roll, transcripts and captions, formatting short-form videos for social media, and more.

How do you charge for your video editing services?
When we start working together, I usually like to begin with a project-based rate. First, we'd talk through the details of your project to assess your needs. Then, I'd calculate an estimate range ($X - $Y) based on the number of hours it will take to complete the project from start to finish, and present that to you for approval. If everything looks good, we'll get started and bring your vision to life! After everything is completed and approved, I'd send an invoice that is due in 30 days. For my regular ongoing clients, I like to keep it easy for both parties by billing hourly and invoicing weekly.

How long does it typically take you to edit a video?
Turnaround time highly depends on a project's scope, length, genre, and more. Once I'm able to chat with you about the details and vision of your project, I will be able to accurately estimate the amount of time I'll need to complete it. It could be a day, a week, or anything in-between & beyond.  Of course, I will always do my best to work within your desired timeline. I give every project 100% of my effort, so I want to make sure we take the time we need to get it exactly right!

Can you edit videos in a specific style or tone that I want?
Absolutely. Over the years, I have built a vast and diverse portfolio that includes many formats like documentaries, short films, trailers, promos, podcasts, ads, educational, music videos, event recaps, and more. I have created content in many genres like comedy, horror, corporate, and everything in between. With your vision paired with my experience, we'll meet in the middle and create something awesome! It all starts with a conversation.

Do you offer revisions after the initial edit?
Yes! I put a lot of priority on pre-production, which involves connecting with you to get a sense of your vision for the project and what you'd like to see in the end product. With a comprehensive game plan in place before we even get to the editing room, I always strive to deliver the strongest first version possible so that revisions are minimal. However, I will always work with you to understand how you'd like me to tweak and update the video or film to get to a killer final product together.

What is your process for communication & feedback during a project?
I will always prioritize your preferred method of communication during a project. Whether that's email, phone calls, zoom calls, online messaging, you name it - I'll give you regular updates and ask great questions along the way. Once I have versions of the video or film to share with you, I will send helpful links using platforms like Frame.io and WeTransfer to make the feedback and reviewing process as easy as possible for you.
